Riots, looting, and Chaos continues after a stanley cup loss in Vancouver

After an amazing playoffs for Canucks who lost the Stanley cup to Boston Bruins riot broke out in downtown Vancouver making a black day in the history of Vancouver. Some notorious group of people who smashed cars/Windows, loot, robb many business and made Vancouver downtown a living hell for hundreds of police officers, fire crew, emergency crew and many innocent people were caught  off guard in this disgusting mess. it is absolutely disgraceful on the name of game, city and most importantly most beautiful place on the world. As mayor promised those who are involved and caught in making these violence a reality will be punished. The amount of damage to this city will reach in millions...Please watch the news to catch a glimpse of these shameful events.

India clinch the Cricket World Cup 2011 by 6 wickets from SriLanka

India won the 2011 world cup after 28 years and the first host nation to win the cup in their home soil. Way to go India...."Congratulations Team India"  and to my fellow Indians/Patrons who enjoyed each and every moment of this world cup game in different crowd/venue throughout Bangladesh/ Srilanka and India. I hope this legacy will last for ever in every Indian's heart and soul. Being last world cup for two great legends from each country (India and Srilanka) Murali and Sachin will be greatly missed by all the nations. Way to go guys...awesome work. On behalf of cricket playing countries and fans I personally congretulate you both for your contributions to this greatest game. This win brings India back on top of the ICC one day table.

Man of the Match for this game was none other than Indian captain Dhoni for his outstanding runchase and leadership skills.

Man of the tournament for this world cup was none other than Yuvraj singh for 4 MOM awards for outstanding allrounder performance

Even in bowling Zaheer Khan clinch the top spot with Afridi.

Overall Indians were best throught this tournament and ultimately the best team won the award. Srilanka also fought very hard and were consistant throught the tournament so their achievement of runners up should not be overlooked by Srilanka.

Good luck guys...in 2015 in NZ and Australia.

Tips for Improving Storage System Performance

  • Connectivity – Make sure bottlenecks to do not exist within your SAN fabric. or Storage array. Often clients who have 4Gbps Storage systems connecting to 2Gbps SAN switches or HBA's. A smart idea is to quickly review all pieces of your SAN fabric and the Storage controller ports to identify potential bottlenecks and eliminate them right away.
  • Drive Count – Storage array performance can be often fixed by adding additional disk drives to the storage configuration within the RAID group. The reason this fix works is that by spreading out the workload with the newly added disks, you gain the advantage of having more drives/arms/spindles accessing and retrieving data, and feeding that data to the storage controller to deliver faster I/O.
  • Drive Size – By using smaller & faster drives for high performance environments such as Oracle, you avoid disk drive contention(s). Contention can manifest itself when too much data is placed on larger drives. An example would be trying to place 4TB of data on 1 shelf of 14x 300GB drives or 1 shelf of 14X450GB drives.
  • Drive Type – SATA drives are an excellent format for archive or low I/O applications such as file servers or imaging, but become less ideal for larger VMWare, Oracle, Exchange or high intensive I/O environments. Make sure you invest in the right technology according to application/workload & follow the best practices effort for implementation. 
  • Controller Segregation – As storage requirements continue to grow, small storage shops can eventually grow into large storage shops. If multiple high performance applications are placed on a single modular array it may overwhelm the system. Consider a second array or a tiered architecture should your array have a high combination of performance-oriented application.
  • RAID Level – Raid 10, Raid 1, Raid 6, RAID-DP, Raid5 and other parity combination's all have their strength and limitations. Do your research to make sure the RAID configuration you are considering will support and maintain application performance for the long term.

WOW! What a spectular show by both nations and at the end Indians were much more desciplined with both ball and in fielding won by 29 runs against Pakistan. India meets Srilanka in Mumbai on April 2nd 2011 for worldcup final. India had appeared twice before in the worldcup and won only once. This is the third time India is going into finals so I wish Indian team and fans across the world good luck for the finals. God Bless India.

Over time, this leads to obesity. It can be cured permanently with the intake of balanced food, proper life style and regular practice of yoga asanas. This will also cure the above-mentioned diseases, as well as many others. Regular practice of yoga asanas cure all types of disease. A few asanas very useful for overcoming obesity are given below: if you are not sure on these poses, please search them in Google for images.

Dwichakrikasana

Method:

1. Lie down straight on your back with your hands beside and below the hips. Stop the breath. Raise one leg, bending it at the knee, and then rotate it like you are riding a bicycle. Repeat this for 10 to 30 times as per your capacity. Similarly, repeat the exercise with your other leg. Rotate the legs without touching the ground. Make a circular shape with the legs.

2. When tired lie down in shavasana and rest for some time and repeat the exercise in the opposite direction, again resting when tired.

3. Inhale, and then repeat the exercise by rotating both the legs simultaneously in a circular motion, as done when you ride a bicycle. After, repeat this in the opposite direction continuously like a bicycle. 5 to 10 times according to your capacity.

Benefits:
1. This is the best exercise to reduce weight. Regular practice of this asana for 5 to 10 minutes sheds out unnecessary weight, and obesity can be reduced in a very short time.

2. It gives proper shape to the stomach. It activates the intestines. It cures constipation, dysentery, acidity etc.

3. In case of backache do the exercise with single leg, it is helpful for backache as well.

Padvritasana

Method:

1. Lie down straight on your back. Raise the right leg and make a circle by rotating the leg clockwise. In this way make 5 to 20 circles without touching the leg to the ground.

2. After rotating in one direction, rotate the leg in the opposite direction (anti-clockwise). Rest in shavasana when you become tired. Alternate between legs.

3. After doing this exercise with single legs, do it with both the legs simultaneously. Rotate the legs in as big a circle as you can. Rotate the legs clockwise and then again anti-clockwise.

Benefits:

1. This asana is also for reducing extra weight.

2. It reduces the fat accumulated in the hips, thighs and waist and gives proper shape to the stomach.

Ardha Halasana

Method:

This asana is like uttanapadasana - the only difference is that in uttanapadasana the legs are raised up to 30 degrees whereas in ardha halasana the legs are raised up to 90 degrees.

1. Lie down on your back. Keep the palms of your hands towards the floor; your legs should be straight and both the feet should be together.

2. Inhale and slowly raise the legs straight up to 90 degrees and remain in this position for some time. Do not bend the knees when you raise the legs.

3. While bringing down the legs, rest the legs on the floor without jerk. Rest for a while and repeat it again at least six times.

4. Those who have backache, should raise one leg at a time.

Benefits:

1. This asana is especially useful to reduce weight.

2. It makes the intestines flexible and healthy, increases the fire of the stomach and cures constipation, gas and obesity.

3. It is also beneficial in shifting of the navel, heart disease, stomachache and respiratory problems.

4. Raising one leg at a time is especially beneficial for backache problems.

How to get rid of pimples and pigmentation marks

Pimples and pigmentation marks appear on the face, which takes away the beauty and charm of the face. These can appear in summer or winter season. The main reasons are consumption of fat, controlling the urge to urinate, excessive labour and exposure of heat and Sun. The following home remedies should be used for this problem:

- Take the cream from fresh milk, add few drops of lemon and apply on the face to remove pimples and acne.

- Grind 30 gm of thymol seeds (ajwain) in 25 gm of curd and apply on pimples and acne. Wash the face the next morning. This remove pimples.

- Take equal quantities of holy basil leaves and lemon juice and apply on the pigmentation marks, dark circles or pimples. This is an effective medicine.

- Add glycerin four times the quantity of lemon juice and rub the face to get rid of pimples. Massage the whole body to get the silky and soft effect.

- Soak lentil dal in sufficient water so that the entire water is absorbed. Grind it and add it in milk. Apply this paste on the face twice daily. This removes pigmentation marks and pimples.

- Grind the dried orange peels in water and apply the paste on the face. This removes pigmentation marks and pimple.

- Rub Jaiphal (nutmeg) in milk and apply on pimples and pigmentation marks. This gives glowing skin.

- Boil cumin seeds and wash the face with that water. This gets rid of pigmentation marks, dark circles etc and enhances the beauty.

- Grind Jaiphal (nutmeg) and black pepper in raw milk and apply on the face at bedtime. This cures pimples and removes pigmentation marks and makes the face beautiful.

- Take one spoon lentil dal, half spoon rapeseeds and two almonds - grind it nicely and add lemon juice. Apply this paste on the face. Wash the face when dry.

- Take equal quantities of alum and black pepper and apply on pimples and acne.

- Grind guava and banana and apply the paste on face.

- Apply cucumber juice on face to remove pigmentation marks and pimples.

- Add radish juice in curd and apply on face to get rid of pimples, acne and pigmentation marks.

- Add honey in onion juice and apply on the face, this cures both the problems

- Take enema of hot water with lemon juice.

- Take boiled gourd or torai in meals. Eat the chapattis made with whole wheat.

- Pat the face with water while taking bath.

- Apply multani mati on face and peel it when dry. Wash the face with cold water.

- Eat boiled vegetables or drink their juice.

- Add Triphala and Moolhati and take 3 to 4 gm daily to cure constipation and get rid of pimples and acne.

- Grind black pepper and apply on pimples.

- Add gram flour in castor oil and apply on face, this is very beneficial.

- Mix rapeseed and rock salt in lemon juice and apply on pimples.

- Grind almonds in goat milk and apply on pimples to get rid of pimples.

- Rub the seed of date palm in vinegar and apply on pimples. Wash the face after one hour with soap. Pimples disappear within three to four days.

- Take equal quantities of lemon juice, rogan badam and glycerin, mix thoroughly and store it in clean bottle. Apply this lotion on the face everyday, to make the skin soft and beautiful.

- Grind chironji and add butter, apply this pack on the face and rub it nicely. This cures all the skin related problems.

- People suffering with pimples and pigmentation marks should maintain a clean stomach. They should improve their digestive strength and keep the intestines clean. They should walk in open and fresh air and take proper diet.

- Add lemon juice and rose water in equal quantities and apply on face. Wash the face after half hour with fresh water. The pimples are cured within 10 to 15 days. This gets rid of pigmentation marks and dark spots.

- Rub the lemon peels on the body before taking bath and wash the face with lukewarm water, this is effective to get rid of pimples.

- Never pinch the pimples and try to break them. This spreads the pimples faster and causes permanent scars on the face. Take hot steam before applying any, pack for immediate results.

- Apply olive oil regularly to cure different types of pimples and boils. This is also effective for curing pigmentation marks and spots.

- Rub the inner portion of neem bark in water like sandal and apply on pimples.

- Apply blue oil (pour oil in blue coloured bottle and keep under the Sun for one and half months) on pimples.

- Take Gulkand with 25- 30 gm of milk everyday at bedtime.

- Take avala marmalade to cure constipation and thereby pimples.

- Boil the neem leaves in water and sieve it. Wash the face with this water to remove pimples.

- Eat sprouted gram regularly according to the digestive capacity to cure pimples and pigmentation marks.

- Eat ripe neem fruit to get rid of pimples.

- Mix Triphala and Moolhati in equal quantities and take three grams powder with lukewarm water to cure constipation and thereby pimples and dark spots.

- Add onion juice, rock salt and honey and apply on the face.

- Take carrot, tomato, radish and other green salad along with meals everyday to remove pimples.

- Avoid tea, coffee etc. This cures pimples and skin related problems.

- Do not eat ice cream, chocolate, toffees, pastries etc. in excess quantity. Avoid constipation.

- Do not eat food items made with spices, garam masala and acidic things.

- Avoid hot spicy, heavy, oily and fried food items like samosa, kachori etc.

- Do not eat things, made with horse bean, flour and do not use chemical based cosmetics on face.

- Add lemon juice in Giloy juice and apply on the face to get rid of pimples.

- In case of severe constipation and pimples, soak 6-7 raisins in water, remove the seeds the next morning and eat.

- Grind Arjun Chaal, Mujith and Vasa Chaal, add honey and apply on the face to remove pimples.

- Regular consumption of radish is good for getting rid of spots, pimples and acne.

- Add black holy basil leaves powder in turmeric powder and apply the pack on the face before bath. This removes pimples.

- Grind coriander, Lodhra and Koot and apply on the face.

- Grind fenugreek leaves and apply the pack on the face, let it dry. Then wash the face, continue this for few days to remove pimples. This also makes the skin soft and smooth.

- Add grounded onion seeds powder in lemon juice and apply on face; this is effective in case of pimples.

- Make a fine paste of Amaltas Chaal, pomegranate Chaal, Lodhra, turmeric and Nagarmotha and add it in water. Apply the pack on the face. This works well in case of pimples.

- Apply sandal wood oil on the face to clean all the infection causing bacteria and pimples.

- Take equal quantities of Jaiphal, black pepper, red sandal, grind it nicely and add it in water. Apply this paste on the face to get rid of pimples.

- Take equal quantities of rapeseeds, Semar thorns, lentil dal, chironji and almonds. Grind all the things nicely and mix it in little bit of milk. Apply this paste on the face to remove pimples.

- Boil one cup milk and thicken it. Add lemon juice, remove from flame and let it be cool while stirring it continuously. Apply this paste on the face at bedtime. Wash the face after one hour and next morning. This removes pimples and gives a smooth and soft skin.

Kinds of Sesame

Apart from its religious significance, sesame is used as a medicine. In Ayurveda, it is considered to be an extremely beneficial and strong medicine. It is a rainy season crop, and is mainly of three kinds: 1. black sesame 2. white sesame 3. red sesame.

Black sesame contains the best qualities with respect to nutrition. White sesame possesses medium qualities and red sesame has no qualities at all.

The most important specialty of sesame is that is contains four rasas (flavors), hot, bitter, sweet and pungent.

Qualities of Sesame

Sesame is bitter in preparation, heavy for digestion, tasty, oily, hot, destroyer of phlegm - bile, provides strength and is beneficial for hair. Its lep (pack) is cold. It cures many diseases, dental and wind related problems, increases milk, fire and intelligence and decreases excess urination.

Sesame in the Form of Sweets

Sesame is hot in nature and is therefore used for preparing sweets in winter season. Different types of sweets like gajak, laddu, revadi, etc. are made of sesame during the winter and protect us from cold. The chances of catching cold reduce if we eat these sweets. Sesame laddu's are beneficial for those children who normally have the problem of bed-wetting in winters. Children having this problem should be given one sesame laddu each in the morning and evening. The bed wetting problem and the urge to urinate at small intervals also gets cured.

Sesame is not just an eatable item, in Ayurveda it is considered to be a great medicine. Regular consumption of sesame protects from many diseases and general physical weakness. The patient develops a good and effective resistance power when compared to normal persons. In other words, the patients develop the capacity to fight against disease.

Medicinal Use of Sesame

Dental problem: Sesame is extremely beneficial in case of loose teeth or the person is suffering from pyorrhoea and toothache. In such case, let the sesame oil remain in the mouth for 10 - 15 minutes and do gargles. This relieves toothache. Another instant remedy to cure toothache is to do gargles with hot sesame oil mixed with asa fetida and black cumin seeds.

Bleeding Dysentery:

Sesame is very beneficial for bleeding dysentery. Grind 20 gm of sesame and add 30 ml of goat's milk, this medicine gives relief in case of bleeding dysentery. Grind few sesame seeds and mix it with jaggery powder, let the child suffering with this problem lick it with honey, the child will get immediate relief. Grinded sesame mixed with butter also cures this problem.

Burns:

If any part of the body has burnt and the person suffers from extreme pain and burning sensation, then apply the lep (pack) of sesame, camphor and ghee on the affected area. This reduces the pain and burning sensation. Grind sesame with milk and apply the lep (pack) on the affected part, this will slowly reduce the burning sensation and the pain.
Impotency:

Consumption of sesame gives lot of strength and therefore it removes impotency. Boil 15 gm of sesame in 10 gm of Gokharu (briar) milk, this medicine taken regularly stops the secretion of vital humors of the body, reduces impotency and weakness. Regular consumption of this medicine for one month definitely cures the impotency.

Menstrual Cycle:

Consumption of Sesame can be very beneficial in case of severe pain during menstrual cycle or mild menstruation. Cook one tola (around 12 gm) sesame in 20 tolas (240 gm) of water and let it reduce to one-fourth of the quantity, remove it from flame and let it cool. Add jaggery in this syrup and consume it regularly every morning, this will cure the problem of mild or irregular menstruation. Add shakkar (jaggery powder) in sesame and barley powder and give this to a women who has delivered a baby, her bleeding will stop.

OH...I almost forgot..Today marks the 1st Anniversary of Vancouver 2010 OLYMPICS.

Today Feb 12th 2011 marks one year anniversary of winter games here in Vancouver. There are lots of activities planned for this year to celebrate the success of winter games. I hope everyone here in Vancouver gets a chance to go out and check out some of the free activities. Unfortunately it is pouring like crazy since this morning so it will definitely put a damp on people's plan but I hope as the day progresses, it clears out and people can enjoy the same spirit that we saw a year ago.
