Travelling down South? starting tomorrow you can carry two carry-on bags...

Canadians flying to the U.S. can take two carry-on bags and personal items with them on a plane, starting Thursday April 8 2010 announced by Transport Minister John Baird

Restrictions on carry-on bags for Canadian airline passengers flying to the U.S. were made following the Dec. 25, 2009 terrorist attack on a Northwest Airlines flight between Amsterdam and Detroit.

Immediately after the failed bomb attack, Canada placed a ban on carry-on luggage. The government loosened restrictions in January, allowing passengers flying to the U.S. one carry-on bag and some personal items, including purses, laptops and camera bags.

“With more robust air security measures in place for passengers, we are able to remove the temporary carry-on baggage restrictions put into place following the December terrorist attack,” Baird said in a release. Those security measures include full body scanners at airports and screening systems to detect passengers exhibiting suspicious behaviours.

Passengers can check with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority or their airline for more information.
